Grants get workers moving

Grants awarded by the 10,000 Steps program are helping thousands of Queensland workers get more active and healthier.

The 10,000 Steps Pedometer Grants provided free pedometers to over 130 eligible workplaces across Queensland in 2014.

The grants benefitted Queensland workplaces of all sizes and from a wide variety of industries. In total, over 12,000 pedometers were supplied to successful workplaces.

The 10,000 Steps program uses step-counting pedometers to track daily physical activity and motivate people to move more often.

Workplaces can take part in a 10,000 Steps Workplace Challenge, which involves teams completing either timed or ‘virtual’ walking journeys using pedometers.

10,000 Steps is funded by Queensland Government as part of the Healthier. Happier. Workplaces initiative and based at CQUniversity.

The Pedometer Grants are now closed but they will be available to Queensland workplaces again in 2015. To stay updated, please visit the 10,000 Steps website, Facebook page and Twitter channel.
