About workplace wellness

Wellness is more than just our physical health—it’s about our overall state of wellbeing that enables us to live and function at our best.

A lack of wellness affects many Queenslanders.

Key statistic

In 2010, more than 24,000 Queenslanders died from a chronic disease—that’s 91% of all deaths in the state. These diseases include:

  • heart disease
  • stroke
  • diabetes
  • cancer
  • mental disorders.

By adopting healthy behaviours, you can decrease the risk of developing many of these diseases.

In a supportive environment, with the right tools and resources, people are more likely to make healthier choices.

A healthy workplace can support employees to:

  • increase physical activity
  • maintain a healthy weight
  • improve social and emotional wellbeing
  • eat healthier
  • quit smoking
  • reduce harmful alcohol consumption.
A workplace wellness program is a good way to support your employees to make healthy choices the easy choices.
