Bakers & Co Painting and Decorating formed a Health and Wellbeing committee on the 29/3/18. A memo was sent to all staff asking for nominations to form a committee. 5 people nominated and we now have myself, HR & WHS officer, a management rep and 3 painters as a committee. A survey was sent out after our meeting asking multiple questions relating to all aspects regarding health and wellbeing,including safety. Management are fully committed to this and provide us with funding and resources required to implement our plan. As our company is the type of business that has worksites all over the Brisbane area, we actively encourage workers to prepare and bring healthier food and drinks to work, and supply a microwave and refrigerator where possible on larger sites. We encourage and pay for employees to get vaccinated for the flu annually, and pay for gym memberships to help with fitness. This has helped significantly reduce sick leave. Employees are allocated to work sites as close as practicable to their homes which allows more home time and less travel. We also have an accredited Mental Health First Aider to help employees with any mental health issues. Overall the health, fitness and morale of our employees is improving and we are committed to continually improving this.
