This year’s staff health and wellness program (HealthWorks) plan and budget was endorsed by our HHS board and executive team who actively support the program. The program aims to be proactive and responsive to emerging staff health and wellness needs. Planning involves ongoing consultation with service groups, directors and staff. A consultative and collaborative approach is supported by several active working groups. Workforce needs are determined by staff feedback, management input, staff surveys, workforce and population health data, and research. Ongoing evaluation assists quality improvement and needs assessment. Staff are supported to complete feedback forms and via an online portal. Biannual formal evaluation program is conducted by an independent market research company, this assists in identifying varying health and wellness needs across a widespread and diverse workforce. Tailored programs have been developed in response to identified needs e.g. funded support for exercise physiology and occupational wellness programs. The HealthWorks team visits rural facilities every six months and has built relationships & capacity in our rural & remote facilities to take carriage of health and wellness program initiatives. Staff participation in HealthWorks initiatives has increased this year with increased attendances at Expos, 900 staff participated in the 2018 10,000 steps tournament and our Fitness Passport program grows with over 2100 current members.
