Ventia Brisbane Wellness Program Progress
The aim of the Ventia wellness program was to change the health and wellbeing culture within our business encouraging workers to take ownership of their own health and wellbeing, raise awareness and educate our staff within our project on wellness topics. By giving them these tools the aim was for them to be able to make informed choices about their own health and wellbeing, their families and work colleagues. During our annual review with both Ventia management and the health and wellbeing committee it was identified that we had made significant progress in achieving our goal and the workforce was openly speaking about health and wellbeing matters, a workplace environment was developed to encourage staff to seek support from fellow workers and take some ownership of the lifestyle choices that they make and the effect it can have on their personal health. As part of this review, management identified a need to expand on the continued support of the mental health of our workers. Ventia currently has an EAP program and has established an independent GP referral system but identified the need for a more worker based program. The decision was made to partner with Mates in Energy to introduce their program into the business. This will be done as a pilot program and introduced at SEQ energy BU in July\'s toolbox then rolled out to Ventia\'s regional energy BU. During this pilot we are inviting managers from BU within Ventia to attend the information sessions.
